Second Annual Nonbinary Tabletop Award

Nonbinary Tabletop Award Winner 2025

Snowbright Studio has wrapped up a second Nonbinary Tabletop Award season. This award program was designed to celebrate work that uplifts nonbinary gender representation and advocacy in tabletop games. We received numerous submissions across all areas of the gaming community, from the game designers who bring the games you love to life, the artists who make these games works of art, and the content creators who keep us entertained and informed on all things tabletop. Now more than ever it feels critically important to be here supporting and elevating the work done by the nonbinary community, and we thank each and every one of you who participated in the nominations.

We are proud to present you with the 2025 Nonbinary Tabletop Award winners!

W.H. Arthur and a picture of the game CONVICT-ION

CONVICT-ION: W.H. Arthur (佢/he/they)

W.H. Arthur is a neurodivergent British East Asian game designer. Arthur explores culture and identity through game design and has since come to the realization that his experience as a neurodivergent ethnic minority is inherently non-binary. Arthur is the creator of successfully crowdfunded TTRPG projects May You Fish in Interesting Times, CONVICT-ION and The Sol Survivor. CONVICT-ION is a TTRPG inspired by Life is Strange, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Persona, as well as the philosophy of Butler and Foucault. The game sees GENDERs as superpowers, formed from the struggle between how one is defined by society and their internal sense of self. It envisions a world in which there is no limit as to what one’s gender can be, and it’s part of a person’s identity that grows and evolves with them. It is a game that explores gender beyond the binary.

Jay Dragon, the Yazebas Bed and Breakfast cover art and M Veselak

Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast; Jay Dragon & M Veselak (she/her)

Jay Dragon is co-founder and editorial director at Possum Creek Games and author of the critically acclaimed Wanderhome and Sleepaway. M Veselak is the writer behind Ennie-winning TTRPG Wickedness. Together, they brought Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast to life. This slice-of-life TTRPG about an interdimensional B&B, is an enormous, critically acclaimed TTRPG made by a crew of overwhelmingly trans and queer creators, whose main characters are a trans woman and a nonbinary child, which deals heavily with themes of queer interconnection,  intergenerational growth, and how generations of queer people care for each other.

Kay Marlow Allen and the Nectar logo

Nectar: Kay Marlow Allen (they/xe)

Kay Marlow Allen is a genderqueer game designer, poet, and publisher. Kay shares the mundanity and the magic of the everyday, and their work creates spaces for resting, reflecting, and connecting. Nectar is a one-page solo journaling TTRPG based on the Second Guess System by William Lentz.  Many designers have used the Second Guess System to write games about transing your gender, and that's because it's perfectly suited to it! Kay’s version is an homage to Alanna: The First Adventure by Tamora Pierce, and all of the other girls-dressing-up-as-boys books that they devoured as a small nonbinary child. They hope this game helps nonbinary and trans players feel seen and understood, and gives cis players the opportunity to imagine both the trials and triumphs of being a nonbinary, trans, or genderqueer person.

You can find this year's award feature in the Winter’s Shadow volume of Cozy Companion.
